Mike was Layer #3, with the sax designed to provide melodic interest. Mick was Layer #4, with his town’s annual alarm test starting and ending the song, while “Sister Emphysema”, his trusty convent harmonium, filled in the lower mid-range, the tiny baglamas adding to the general unsettling feeling and his ominous spoken word part setting the song title in motion. Scott did the overall mixdown and production, balancing the parts and putting together the finishing touches.
